David Krňanský

Garden

September 1, 2023 - September 28, 2023 Curator: Michal Stochl HYB4 Galerie, Hybernská, New Town, Czechia

At first sight, David Krňanský is a special personality.

We are sitting together in his studio, sipping water on a hot day and talking about art. Full of enthusiasm, he describes to me his newly created works, everything is directed towards art, the world is paused, and presence submerges into a subliminal state of calm.

His paintings are playful, cheerful, seeking an inner path to find new emotions and directions where an artist can approach within the bounds of abstract forms of painting. Krňanský’s work is not self-seeking; it is already a clear, anchored manuscript that elaborates on past processes and forms to dematerialize painting down to the necessary minimum of simple strokes and clear color expressions.

Like a metaphorical composer, the author removes individual positions from the composition, only to reassemble them into simple entities saturated with fullness in an initially apparent emptiness. Finding this almost otherworldly embodiment is then strongly evident in the intention to create a large-format canvas for the GARDEN exhibition in the white space of HYB4 Gallery, which literally engulfs the viewer and orchestrates a concert of inner emotions in its seeming simplicity.

The name Krňanský is a brand, and his work for the GARDEN exhibition is a new model tailored precisely to fit.
